IOR, three-way race, belgian De Corte favourite. The decision in the coming hours
The Vatican is changing the supervisory board of the IOR. In the role which is still vacant from May 2012 will enter the belgian Bernard De Corte, who is the most credited candidate to assume the office of president.
The Board of the Vatican bank is also expected for another change: here comes the German Ernest von Freyberg, in place of the vice president Ronaldo Hermann Schmitz. The new president will be chosen between these two names and that of the Italian member, Antonio Maria Marocco.
Yesterday the Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, said that the Council of Cardinals and the committee of superintendence of the IOR should meet "before Monday, and if they have something important to tell us we will tell you before that date." Father Lombardi called on the media to be cautious.
